A practical hands-on approach to Microsurgery

Why This Workshop?

This focused, hands-on microsurgery workshop is designed to take participants from the fundamentals of microsurgical technique to being confident in doing vascular anastomosis. Participants will first learn the principles together and then put them into practice with supervised hands-on training.

What Will You Learn?

01 — Microscope & Instruments

  • Microscope handling and ergonomics
  • Microsurgical instruments
  • Sutures and needles.

02 — Vessel Preparation

  • Principles of vessel preparation and creating an optimal field for anastomosis.

03 — End-To-End Anastomosis

  • Technique, precision and practical execution of end-to-end anastomosis

04 — End-To-Side Anastomosis

  • Stepwise approach to end-to-side anastomosis and technical considerations

05 — Mastering The Challenges , Tips & Tricks

  • Management of vessel discrepancy
  • Ergonomically difficult field.
Who Should Attend?

Plastic surgery residents & fellows with an interest in upgrading their microsurgical skills.

Put Your Skills To The Test :

Each participant will perform at least two end-to-end, two end-to-side and two vessel-discrepancy anastomoses. Faculty will assess technique using the MARS score(10-Point Microsurgical Anastomosis Rating Scale) and evaluation will be done.

Participants hands-on work will be evaluated and the Best Hands-on Work will receive a winner certificate.
